How to use Pinterest?

Everyone today is talking about Pinterest. You have read so much about the social networking platform, heard friends and associates talk about it and how to use it. Everybody is talking about how much fun the Pinterest app and you are left wondering what the big deal is about it anyway.

You can safely call Pinterest an online pinboard for collecting multimedia images and form like a group of pictures or images that you like. For example, if you like collecting recipes then you can collect as many images of recipes and create a board a label it “recipes”. This you can do for any type of images that appeal your tastes. So, you are now wondering how Pinterest becomes a social interaction app and you learn that Pinterest users interact with one another by commenting, liking and repinning each other’s images and boards.

The first thing you should do to start using Pinterest is to sign up for a Pinterest account. Like most other social networking platforms, Pinterest is free of cost and you can sign up using your email address or phone number. While signing up you will be asked to choose any five categories to follow so that the app can start showing you some personalized pins based on the above chosen by you.

First, you should familiarise yourself with your profile and your name and profile picture will be displayed on the top right corner. On the homepage you will see three tabs- Boards: It displays all the pinboards you created, Tried: Contains all the pins you tried yourself and even left a feedback on and Pins: Contains and displays all the things you pinned very recently.

After you have set up your profile and get a bit of understanding on how Pinterest really works, you will have to start saving pins on images that you come across while browsing Pinterest. This is the real fun part and once you get the hang of it then Pinterest is all about saving pins, creating pinboards and interacting with friends and contacts. To save a pin on any image you like, you should hover the cursor on the image and click the red save button that appears on the top right corner. you should then save it to any board that you may have created and for first time pinning, you could create a board. This you can do by navigating back to your profile and clicking on the Pins or the Boards Tab and clicking on the Create Pins or Create Board button.

If the image you want to pin is on your computer then you can upload and it if is on the web, then you should copy and paste the URL to select the exact image that you want to pin using the app. You should use the Create Board option to keep your pins organized and create boards. You could keep your board either private or public.

If you like pins of some specific users, then you should follow them so that their pins appear on your homepage board feed. Interacting with other Pinterest users is the most fun thing on Pinterest and you can save pins, send pins and even comment on any specific pin.
